VECCHI: "IT WAS A PROPER MATCH"

The Primavera coach appeared on SkySport24 to speak about his side’s victory over Juventus in the Coppa Italia final

MILAN Stefano Vecchi believes Wednesday night’s Coppa Italia final win over Juventus gave his Primavera charges a glimpse of the reality of senior football.

"Last night was a hard-fought game – a proper match, just like the first leg," said Vecchi, who was appearing on SkySport 24 on Thursday. "It was certainly a more emotional affair than usual for all involved."

Asked whether any of the players were ready to move up to the first team, Vecchi replied: "Both Mancini and the rest of the staff – such as Sylvinho and Salsano – are always asking me about the lads, but in actual fact they know them well anyway because they often train with them.

"It’s not easy to make the step up from the Primavera squad to the first team. At Appiano Gentile we have the facilities to record the training sessions and watch them back – that helps the lads to improve. But it’s definitely no easy task."

Vecchi was also keen to draw a line under the skirmish after Inter’s winner on Wednesday night: "I’ll shake hands with Grosso the next time we see each other."
