MILAN – Mauro Icardi has sounded the rallying cry ahead of the Nerazzurri’s league run-in.
"Everything’s still open and there are lots of points to play for," declared Icardi, speaking exclusively to Inter Channel. "My recovery is going well and I’ve been training for a week and a half already."
The Inter captain called for his team-mates to focus ahead of Sunday’s visit of in-form Torino: "All matches are tough in Italian football and it’s important we don’t underestimate our opposition. This fixture last year is still fresh in the memory – we lost the match from a corner in the last minute.
"We need to focus on performing well, as we did up until January. We dropped off but ever since the Juventus match we’ve shown our pride and rediscovered our confidence. Against Roma we produced a fantastic performance and we could well have won the game and taken home all three points."
Icardi also had some special praise for Ivan Perisic: "He’s in wonderful form and he even scored for his national team. He’s really important for us and helps everyone around him."
Finally, the Argentine had a message for the fans: "They already know what I think. I hope to show the way I feel on the pitch, scoring goals and helping the team."
