ALTOPASCIO – Stefano Vecchi was more than satisfied with his boys' stunning win against Ujana to advance to the quarter-finals of the Viareggio Cup.
"I'm delighted we got through the round," the Primavera coach declared in an interview to Inter Channel. "We started the game well, but then Ujana grew stature and we lost our grip on them. They caused us a few surprises on the counter and from a set piece.
"The result was in the balance and we did very well to kill the game off in the second half."
"We know we're going to have to overcome better sides if we want to win," Vecchi added, "but it's also important to be able to negotiate potential banana skins that games like today can throw up.
"The new tournament regulations give us the possibility of rotating the boys and taking advantage of the depth in our squad. The subs who came on today did really well and so far we've been able to share out playing time equally among the players.
"The real contests are just around the corner and we're ready for them."
The Inter U19 boss had both Zinho Vanhuesden and Andrea Pinamonti available again, after they returned from youth-team international duty for their countries.
"They are two top-drawer quality players, who are stalwarts in their national teams as well. We're pleased they're back with us.
"They will be very useful and I hope we can put our trust in them that they will help us to get through to the final."
