MILAN – Andrea Bocelli and Javier Zanetti have jointly announced the "Bocelli and Zanetti Night", which will see two global legends of music and sport coming together for the first time on one stage for a unique occasion.
This international charity event will take place on 25 May 2016 at 21:00 CET at the Open Air Theatre in the Expo Area in Milan.
United by their tireless charitable efforts, friendship and mutual respect, Bocelli and Zanetti have decided to join forces on a special night of solidarity. The evening will also offer an opportunity to celebrate the reopening of the area that hosted Expo Milan and symbolically introduce the UEFA Champions League Final which takes place three days later in Milan.
A collection of renowned artists from the music scene and legends of football have been brought together like never before to help those who are most in need. The funds raised during the event are destined for the non-profit P.U.P.I Foundation (www.fondazionepupi.org) and Andrea Bocelli Foundation (www.andreabocellifoundation.org), which are both involved in educational projects for children in Central and South America.
All the activities planned for the evening will directly benefit the "Education for a Better World" project, which was born out of the common desire of both foundations to use education as a tool to help children and families in disadvantaged areas to empower themselves. Within the scope of this project, the school is viewed as the place where youngsters can express their full potential in order to promote personal and community development by nurturing an awareness that change must come from and for them.
Donations will help guarantee 500 children in Buenos Aires and 1750 in Haiti can receive an education.
The evening has a series of top-level musical performances in store, including the famous tenor from Tuscany conducted by the famed Zubin Mehta, as well as the beloved Italian artist Laura Pausini who has sold millions of records all over the world. Skin – the charismatic lead from the band Skunk Anansie – will also be performing. However, these are only the first acts to be unveiled and many more stellar names from Italian music are expected.
This unique musical offering will be enhanced still further by the presence of the Nerazzurri vice president Javier Zanetti, who will undertaking the Master of Ceremonies role. He'll accompanied by legendary players and coaches from global football such as Jose Mourinho and Samuel Eto'o, to name just two.
The icing on the cake will be applied by an exclusive post-concert meal, which will see for the very first time four top-drawer Italian chefs coming together to create an exceptional menu for the occasion!
