ALTOPASCIO – Inter U19 have stormed into the quarter finals of the 68th Viareggio Cup thanks to a 5-0 demolition job of Congolese outfit Ujana.
After a minute's silence before kick-off in commemoration of the victims of the terrorist attack in Brussels, Inter took under two minutes to come close to breaking the deadlock. The opposition keeper just managed to keep out an Andrea Cagnano header from a corner.
The Nerazzurri were dominating the contest and opened their goalscoring account for the day in the 21st minute, Mattia Bonetto slotting home after good work from Jose Correia.
The African team did work a couple of chances within the last ten minutes of the first half but couldn't convert and the teams went into the changing rooms with the score at 1-0.
Stefano Vecchi's boys picked up where they had left off in the second half, doubling their advantage eight minutes after the restart through a Correia penalty.
Samuel Darko Appiah made it 3-0 in the 66th minute, increasing his personal tally for the tournament to three after strikes against Akademija Pandev and APIA Leichhardt.
Inter didn't let up even with the victory secured and substitute Andrea Pinamonti made it 4-0 in the 70th minute from another penalty. Axel Mohamed Bakayoko wrapped up a superb team performance four minutes later with the Nerazzurri's fifth.
The winners of Atalanta v Fiorentina await Inter in the quarter finals, which will be played next Friday.
