JUAN JESUS: "EIGHT FINALS FOR THIRD SPOT"

"We need to work hard to win the matches we have left and finish in third," the Brazilian defender said the day after Inter’s 1-1 draw with Roma

MILAN Juan Jesus has issued a rallying cry to his Inter team-mates ahead of their Serie A run-in.

"I think we made a positive start to the game because they’re an in-form side and had won lots of matches going into the game. We wanted to get the win and took the lead, so it’s a shame we couldn’t hold onto the result until the end," the Brazilian defender told gazzetta.it the day after the 1-1 draw with Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

Roberto Mancini said that Inter could still finish third if they won all of their remaining matches, and Juan Jesus echoed his manager’s sentiments: "We have eight finals to prepare for. I agree with the boss – we need to give our all and work hard to win the matches we have left and finish in third. We started well and led the table for weeks, so I think we can get third and qualify for the Champions League."

Juan Jesus also pinpointed the 3-0 win over Juventus in the Coppa Italia semi-final second leg as having given the club a boost: "It was a start. We produced a wonderful performance and regained our confidence and poise. We need to keep that up."
