VECCHI: "TOO MANY MISTAKES"

Primavera coach on defeat to Spezia: "We played well in the first half but came up short at the vital moments. They were more clinical and determined"

SARZANA – Stefano Vecchi was left to rue his team's mistakes in the aftermath of today's Viareggio Cup defeat to Spezia.

The Primavera boss watched the Nerazzurri create a hatful of chances in the first half but fail to take a single one, with further wastefulness in the second period condemning them to a 3-1 defeat.

"It was one of those games you can hardly believe is happening because you have all those incredible chances to score and yet somehow find yourself a goal down at the break. We might even have conceded a second in injury time. "We played well in the first half but came up short at the vital moments," he told Inter Channel after the match.

"We then managed to get ourselves back in the game at the start of the second half but right after that we went and made more schoolboy errors and paid for them dearly. We didn't play well in the second half and our substitutes weren't able to turn things around for us. Spezia deserved to win because their finishing was better and they were more determined in defence."

Looking ahead to Inter's third group match against Australian side APIA Leichhardt on Saturday, Vecchi added: "Our game against APIA will determine whether we go through now but it makes little difference whether we finish first or second."
