VIAREGGIO – Inter kicked off their Viareggio Cup campaign in the best possible way, comfortably defeating Akademija Pandev 4-0 with goals coming from Enrico Baldini, Jose Correia, Boris Rapaic and Samuel Darko Appiah.
Stefano Vecchi's team took the lead in the 25th minute when Bright Gyamfi fed Baldini who escaped the clutches of his markers and put the Nerazzurri into the lead.
The Nerazzurri were in full control and had multiple opportunities to double their lead, which eventually happened in the 53rd minute when Correia finished off a delightful flowing move.
With a two-goal cushion, Vecchi took the opportunity to make some changes and one of his substitutions soon paid dividends, as Rapaic made it 3-0 from the penalty spot. Another sub got the fourth goal as well six minutes later, Appiah striking home from a tight angle.
Inter Primavera will be back out on Wednesday for their game group-stage match against Spezia, who defeated APIA Leichhardt 5-0 in their opening game.
