MANCINI: "ONLY OUR BEST WILL DO AGAINST BOLOGNA"

Here's what the Nerazzurri coach had to say in his pre-match press conference on the eve of Inter v Bologna at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza

APPIANO GENTILE – Roberto Mancini has declared that Bologna should not be underestimated in any way and Inter must be on top form to face Roberto Donadoni's side on Saturday evening at 20:45 CET.

The conference began with a comment on the race to finish the season in third place, which hasn't had an effect on the Inter manager's thirst for the job, even if that aim should fail to materialise: "I like working here, you find motivation every day."

Mancini also fielded a question on his team's formation and how Eder can fit into the side: "It doesn't matter whether we play 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3, the attitude of the team out on the pitch is the important thing.

"The fact Eder still hasn't found the net for Inter is down to bad luck. He has slotted in well, bearing in mind he joined during a difficult spell. The only thing that's missing from his game is goals."

As for the limitations in the squad and any satisfaction he can draw from the season in course, Roberto was unequivocal: "We're all human beings and we can all make mistakes. Obviously we always think we're doing the right thing, but it's the final result that determines whether the decisions were right or wrong and changes opinion.

"Satisfaction comes when you see progress being made in the side. We were in top spot for a couple of months and that was enjoyable. Then we hit a rough patch early this year and that led to a drop-off in results caused by errors that are part of the development of a fairly youthful side. Jeison Murillo, Mauro Icardi, Jonathan Biabiany, Marcelo Brozovic and Geoffrey Kondogbia are all young players."

The Nerazzurri boss then turned his attention to the visit of Roberto Donadoni's high-flying team to San Siro tomorrow: "I'm delighted they've got out of a difficult situation because Bologna deserve to have a good team. Donadoni has done a great job and he's a top coach, so tomorrow we'll have to be very careful.

"Bologna are playing carefree football at the moment and they have young guys who are performing well. It will be a tough match and we cannot let our minds drift to Roma before having dealt with Bologna."

Next up Mancini addressed some fitness issues in the team: "Murillo is doing pretty well, he had a slight problem but now he's doing OK. Stevan Jovetic, on the other hand, has an issue with his calf muscle. This kind of injury can be delicate and you need a bit of time."

He then wrapped proceedings up by answering a question on the transfer market. "Alex Telles is a player we're banking on for the future, he's young and he'll develop a great deal further. He's also got an Italian passport. Where he'll play next season depends on two clubs talking it out. Icardi's contract will keep him at the club for a long time.

"I like having players like Adem Ljajic at my disposal. They can make a difference with their extraordinary technical ability."
