D'AMBROSIO: "A MAGNIFICENT TEAM PERFORMANCE"

"We wanted a reaction for ourselves, the fans and the club and we showed one tonight." Defender shares his post-match views with Inter Channel

MILAN - Inter provided the response everyone was looking for against Juventus tonight according to Danilo D'Ambrosio.

Speaking to Inter Channel after the cup match against the Bianconeri, the Italian said: "Losing on penalties after winning the game 3-0 is hard to take. It was a magnificent team performance that brought out the best in each of us. We wanted a reaction for ourselves, the fans and the club.

"We prepared for the game as we prepare for all the others. It's never easy against Juventus. We came into this after a 3-0 cup defeat and 2-0 in the league, which wasn't a true reflection of the game, but that's football for you."

The 27-year-old, who played alongside Juan Jesus at the heart of defence tonight, went on to discuss his own contribution:

"It's important to feel that your team-mates and the coach believe in you. I always try give my all for the shirt when I'm out there. Sometimes I get a bit down when I make a mistake and I don't sing my own praises when I play well. I'm a professional and a perfectionist."

Danilo then cast his eye forward to the remainder of the campaign.

“We need consistency in our performances and our results. We're not the team we've seen in the last two months, nor were we world-beaters when we were top of the league. We need to find the right balance and try to finish third, which is the target we set ourselves."
