MILAN - Jose Mourinho says his feelings for Inter remain as strong as ever after returning to the Meazza for the first time in years this evening.
The Portuguese coach was in the stands at the Meazza to take in Inter's 3-1 success over Sampdoria and after the game he gave an exclusive interview to Inter Channel.
"I was a whole mixed bag of feelings," Mourinho revealed. "It was wonderful to have lunch with the Moratti family. We reminisced about old times and shared our thoughts and memories."
Mourinho watched on as Inter returned to winning ways after a difficult period. He continued: "It was important to win today for Inter and for us Interisti. And I say 'us' because I've been an Interista since the day I joined this club.
"Hopefully we can finish the season strong now and get back into the Champions League next year – that's where Inter should be."
The manager who mastermined the Nerazzurri's last Champions League triumph then elaborated on his feelings for Inter: "I still feel the same way. I've been to Real Madrid and Chelsea since I left here but wherever I've been I've always maintained a fantastic connection with Inter. I went to China recently but even in London when someone calls out to me in the street it's often an Italian Inter fan who wants to share their feelings with me. It's great to come back to San Siro after so much time and still feel at home here. Inter will always be my home."
Mourinho ended with a message for the Nerazzurri fans: "I am where I am but I'll always be an Interista. I came here as a professional willing to give everything I had to this club and I left an Interista – that's the best feeling. The fans are like a part of me, there'll always be a connection between us.
"I want Inter to start winning again. I want the fans to smile again when they come to San Siro. And I'm sure Inter will be great again."
