INTER U17S BEATEN BY CREMONESE

Benoit Cauet’s youngsters succumbed to a home defeat in Week 18, with the Nerazzurri unable to complete the comeback after Merola’s brace

MILAN - Benoit Cauet’s Under 17 Lega Pro side were defeated 3-2 by Cremonese at the Centro Sportivo Giacinto Facchetti on Sunday to put paid to the Nerazzurri’s three-month unbeaten streak.

Inter made a good start to the Week 18 match, with Adorante putting the ball in the net early on only for the referee to chalk it off for offside. There was trouble on the horizon, however, as a flurry of Cremonese goals saw Inter go in 3-0 down at half-time.

Cauet’s side rallied after the break, Merola pulling one back not long after the restart. And though Patacchini was sent off on 67 minutes to leave the Nerazzurri to fight on with ten men, Merola made it 3-2 on 75 minutes with a well-placed header.

There was to be no happy ending, however, as Cremonese held on for a big three points.
