MILAN – Felipe Melo has bemoaned Inter’s late lapse against Carpi and called for the side to stick together to rediscover that winning feeling.
"The coach is absolutely right. When they went down to ten men there was no way we should have been conceding a goal like that. We’ve thrown two points away.
"We mustn’t forget this game because it will do us good in the future. If we’d won the game we might have gone into the Juventus match overconfident and conceded four goals – that’s much worse that being humble and working hard to produce a good performance. If we show humility in our work then I’m sure we can play the way we need to," declared Melo.
"We gave everything. The counter-attack shouldn’t have come about but we’re human and it can happen. It was a costly error. We’re Inter and we need to give 100% always. This is a winning club and I came here to win. We just need to work even harder," continued the Brazilian midfielder.
"The only way we come through this is to get back to winning ways, work harder and stay even more focused. This is Inter and whether we win, lose or draw, we do it together. Now we have an opportunity to do well away from home in the Derby d’Italia so we need to put the hard yards in. I feel good and I think today was by best performance here – the goal was missing but I thank God all the same. These moments happen and we need to show our intelligence," said Melo.
