BERGAMO - Danilo D'Ambrosio admitted Inter weren't at their best against Atalanta but hopes next week's cup match can provide the spark needed for the Nerazzurri's form to pick up again.
"We knew it was a difficult game," the full-back told Inter Channel after the match at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia. "We did struggle a bit but we mustn't give up.
"The pitch wasn't in great condition today. Atalanta got off to a strong start then dropped off a bit but their fans got behind them and that picked them up again. We had to play better if we wanted to win it."
On his own performance, the Italian said: "You always start off with an idea of how you want to play and depending on your opponents you manage to do it well or not so well. I did get forward today but not as much as usual because Gomez kept pushing up."
Inter head to Naples on Tuesday for a Coppa Itaia quarter-final tie against Napoli. "We're not enjoying our best spell and the results will tell you that but it will be a one-off occasion on Tuesday - do or die. Hopefully it can give us strength to take into our next league matches."
