MILAN - Roberto Mancini was rightly pleased with his side's performance in their 1-0 win over Genoa: "It was important to bounce back immediately after the Napoli game to consolidate the positive aspects of our performance at the San Paolo. The match was tough because we didn't finish the many chances we created in the first half against Genoa."
Mancini also commented on Ljajic's star turn, with the Serbian bagging the winner: "Adem is playing well and I'm pleased for him. He can do even more because he definitely has room for improvement. Sometimes players simply improve because they mature as they get older. I must say everyone is performing well."
On his decision to leave Icardi on the bench: "Mauro has only missed two of our 15 matches. It's good to make changes as that way everyone knows they have a chance of playing. That's the approach everyone is taking."
The manager once again got his tactics spot on: "I went with pacy players today because they're hard for the opposition to pick up. We needed to score as soon as they beat players and when we attacked the space. In the end, though, we scored in the second half. We showed great character just like we did at Napoli. We only faced an onslaught for the first 20 minutes following Higuain's goal."
Finally, Mancini commented on the referee's performance: "I'm disappointed we had a goal disallowed in the second half. No comment on D'Ambrosio's dismissal. Sinisa's right, I have had more time to work with my team."
