MANCINI: "WE PLAYED BRILLIANTLY"

The boss's take on Napoli v Inter: "Nagatomo's sending off was unfair. We would never have lost 11 v 11"

NAPLES - Roberto Mancini took stock of Inter's defeat to Napoli at the San Paolo, starting with the moment where the match turned: Yuto Nagatomo's red card.

"Yuto was sent off for a little foul. We would never have lost 11 v 11 and we might even have won it because we played brilliantly. Sadly that's football for you. Callejon clearly dived for Nagatomo's first booking, whereas for the second Yuto could have been a bit more careful.

"Personally I'm happy because we were always in it, even in the first half. It was a very open game that was ruined by an unfair sending off, so it's hard to assess. Reina and Higuain were exceptional. As I said, that's football but there's no shame in losing if you've played well against the best team in the league and two of their players have had a night like that. On this occasion they got lucky and we didn't."

The Nerazzurri found themselves behind within a matter of seconds. "There was a ball we didn't deal with properly at the start and Higuain did superbly to score an amazing goal. We deserved more come the end of the match. I thought both Miranda's and Jovetic's headers were going in."

Why do Inter play better with ten men? "Maybe because you throw yourself forward a bit more. But it's always better to play with 11 players."

Mancini then responded to claims that this was a game between the teams who have played the best and the worst football so far: "We have to work hard but if we've been at the top for 14 games we must have been doing something right."

Finally, he was asked to comment further on the red card: "It was an even game in the first half ruined by the sending off. We've had three players sent off for two yellow cards and none of them have been logical."
