D'AMBROSIO: "OUR JOB TO MAKE MANCINI'S HARD"

"This victory feels great. All the hard work I've put in paid off tonight." The full-back cut a happy figure after the Roma game

MILAN - Hard work pays off and it's up to the players to convince the coach of their worth. That's what Danilo D'Ambrosio told Inter Channel after he was rewarded for his own efforts with a first start of the season against Roma this evening.

The 27-year-old certainly left his mark on the match with his last-ditch lunge to thwart Dzeko in the first half - a tackle that was worth as much as a goal.

"First of all, thanks for all the compliments," he began after the Week 11 fixture won by Gary Medel's strike. "It means that all the hard work I've put in over the last few months has been worth it. You have to set out to win every game and tonight's victory feels great."

The Italian's inclusion in the starting line-up surprised a few poeple but did Danilo know he would be in the team? "The gaffer hinted to me only this mornng that I would be starting but it doesn't make any difference to me. I always train with the right mentality and maximum concentration, even when I'm not in the starting eleven. You have to respect the boss's decisions. It's up to us to make his job difficult but giving 100% at all times."

Can Inter win the Scudetto? "We know we need to keep improving and we'll play better. We're working hard because you get nothing for free but that makes it all the more satisfying."
