ICARDI: "WE HAD TO WIN"

The Nerazzurri captain and goalscorer post-match at the Dall'Ara: "The tempo was too slow in the first half. We were determined after the break"

BOLOGNA – Mauro Icardi scored the decisive goal in the opening game of Week 10 in Serie A TIM 2015/16 between Bologna and Inter, lifting the Nerazzurri back up to the top of the table.

Here's what he had to say after the game:

"We had to win and we've done just that. It was a tough match out there, but in the end we got the goal that gives us all three points.

"We were too slow in the first half so it was important to come back out after the break showing with the right level of determination."

The Nerazzurri skipper was also pleased to be back among the goals: "I knew I had to score because that's the job of a striker. Adem Ljajic put it on a plate for me today and when you get assists like that it's so much easier. There's quality throughout the squad and we can do well."

The Argentine wrapped things up with a word on the upcoming encounter against Roma at the San Siro on Saturday evening. "It will be difficult, but we want to win every match. We hope to get three more points."
