MILAN - Roberto Mancini's men travel to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa this afternoon to take on Sampdoria in Week 7 of Serie A.
With the help of Opta, we've put together this set of facts and figures to help pass the time as we wait for the 15:00 CEST kick-off.
HEAD TO HEADS
These teams have faced off 132 times in the top flight before today, with 71 Nerazzurri wins, 21 for the Blucerchiati and 40 draws.
Inter are the team that Sampdoria have lost most games to (71) and conceded most goals against (241) in Serie A.
These sides' second meeting last season saw the Genoa-based club put an end to Inter's eight-game unbeaten streak (W5, D3) with a 1-0 win.
The Blucerchiati have managed to score more than once on just one occasion in the last 17 league matches, when they lost 3-2 in October 2012.
Inter and Sampdoria have shared 17 goalless draws, the most recent coming at the Meazza in February 2010. 0-0 is the most common scoreline in this match.
Inter's last two away defeats both came at the Stadio Ferraris: against Sampdoria in March and Genoa in May. The Nerazzurri lost their first game of the season to Fiorentina last weekend, bringing an end to their six-match winning run (five this season, one in 2014/15).
Sampdoria have won all three of their home matches this season, scoring at least twice in each encounter. Doria have only kept one clean sheet in six attempts (2-0 against Bologna). They have let in nine goals in six games (an average of 1.5 per match).
GENERAL STATS
Inter are the Serie A team to have fielded the fewest Italian players in 2015/16 – just two Santon and Ranocchia.
Sampdoria have the highest percentage of shots on target (60%) and shots to goals (27%), giving them the second best attack in Serie A with 12 goals (only Roma have more with 13) despite having the second fewest total shots.
Only Roma (six) have scored more goals from set pieces than Inter and Sampdoria (four each) in the league this year. Both sides have conceded just one goal from dead-ball situations. Bologna are the only team with a better record defending set pieces (zero conceded).
Inter, together with Juventus and Verona, are one of only three teams yet to score in the first 30 minutes of play in 2015/16 matches.
Sampdoria have scored two direct free kicks, a record they share in Italy with Roma and AC Milan.
PLAYERS
Eder is Serie A's topscorer with six goals from the opening six rounds. He is also the player who has had a hand in the most goals for his team (seven).
Roberto Soriano has scored twice and provided two assists in 2015/16, meaning he has already had a hand in four of his team's goals. His record for a whole season is six, which he managed in each of the last two campaigns.
Edgar Barreto is the Serie A player who has been involved in the most tackles (30) and won the most (25).
Inter's three assists have come from three different defenders: Miranda, Davide Santon and Alex Telles.
Luis Muriel has hit three goals in seven meetings with Inter in Serie A. Only against Roma has he scored more (four).
Rodrigo Palacio has struck four times in six games for Inter against Sampdoria. He never managed to score against them when he played for cross-town rivals Genoa.
Mauro Icardi was brought to Italy by Sampdoria, making his Serie B debut in 2011/12 (two appearances with one goal). He reached double figures in his first year in the top flight (10 goals in 31 games). Since joining Inter, he has found the net three times in three matches against his former club.
Pedro Pereira is the youngest player to have started at least three matches in the top five European leagues.
Fredy Guarín scored his first Serie A goal in Inter 3-2 Sampdoria in October 2012.
If he features today, Antonio Cassano will be play his 20th match against Inter. Fantantonio scored his first goal for Bari against the Nerazzurri on 18 December 1999 and has five in total against them. He played 28 games, scored seven goals and provided nine assists in an Inter shirt in 2012/13.
Tommaso Berni made three appearance for the Blucerchiati in 2012/13.
Jonathan Biabiany also spent a season at Sampdoria (16 games and one goal in 2010/11).
Samp have four former Inter players in their ranks: Palombo (three games in 2012), Silvestre (nine appearances in 2012/13), Viviano (who never turned out for Inter in Serie A) and Bonazzoli (five appearances).
COACHES
Roberto Mancini and Walter Zenga were both legends at the clubs they face today. Mancio spent 15 years at Samp while the former keeper came through the Nerazzurri youth ranks before playing 12 seasons as a professional.
Walter Zenga has always lost as a coach against Inter in Serie A: three games, no points and an average of three goals conceded.
Mancini has faced Sampdoria 11 times in Serie A, losing just once, winning six and drawing four.
This is the first time the two coaches have met in opposite dugouts for a Serie A encounter.
REFEREE AND DISCIPLINE
Sampdoria are the team who have made the fewest fouls in Serie A (73).
Gianluca Rocchi is officiating his 184th Serie A match today and his fourth in 2015/16. So far this season he has not produced a red card or awarded a penalty.
Samp have won only three of the 12 matches that Rocchi has refereed for them (D3, L6). They haven't won any of the last four games with this match official.
Inter's Serie A record with Rocchi is 11 wins, eight draws and four defeats. The Nerazzurri are unbeaten in the last five league matches overseen by Rocchi.
Rocchi has taken the whistle for one previous meeting between these sides: 1-1 at the Marassi in February 2008.
