SHANGHAI – It's the first penalty for FPA Barcelona and Ferrer steps up. Inter Forever lead the shootout 1-0 thanks to Figo's perfect penalty conversion moments earlier. Toldo dives to his right and beats it away. His team-mates, the Nerazzurri bench and the rowdy Inter Club fans from Shanghai all erupt with joy. It would be the only save of the shootout and sends Inter through to the final of the Winning League International Legends Championship.
Just as decisive as Toldo's spot-kick stop was Chivu's goal-line clearance at the start of the game and Karagounis' free kick to cancel out Mendieta's piece of magic. And of course the heart shown by Inter Forever for 90 long minutes, played on the back of tiring journeys, with a few fitness problems and a small squad.
The Nerazzurri stars stuck it out and came good in the end. Now they can now look forward to playing the final on Saturday.
