SHANGHAI – Inter Forever’s adventure at the Winning League International Legends Championship 2015 has officially begun after the Nerazzurri legends met up at Shanghai airport. The veterans – who face FPA Barcelona in their first match – were arriving from all over Europe, as Francesco Toldo explained: "We have guys coming from Athens, Paris and Russia, then there are the groups from Milan and Roma, with more joining us today and tomorrow."
Toldo then said a few words about the championship itself: "We’re delighted to have been invited here for this tournament. The spirit is just right – one of friends taking a break from their respective commitments to meet up again. It was a long flight and the lads aren’t all that young anymore so our objectives today are to adjust to the time difference and stretch our legs in the gym."
A quick stroll around the hotel was all it took for Toldo to detect the passion for the Nerazzurri out in Shanghai: "Inter have always been very popular in China and that’s really satisfying to know. We hope to perform well here. All I’ll say is that one of our squad could just be the surprise of the tournament, but I’ll let you discover who it is for yourselves."
The players had an afternoon training session in the gym – strictly optional, as per Toldo’s instructions – and welcomed Greek midfielder Giorgos Karagounis to the group. There is a press conference scheduled for tomorrow to inaugurate the tournament, while the Nerazzurri will also have their first proper training session.
