MILAN – It was a dream debut for Felipe Melo in a Nerazzurri shirt as he helped Inter triumph in one of the biggest games of the year.
"I'm happy and I thank God for this victory," he told Inter Channel after the final whistle. "We've won an important game. If you want to wear this shirt you need to fight for it. I'm here to help Inter become great again. So far, so good."
He then spoke about previous derbies he's played in and how he's settling in: "A derby like that is more difficult than the ones I played in in Turkey. I wasn't here for pre-season training and I started 25 days after the others. I'm not 100% yet. It was a very tactical match today and very technical too. That's what Italian football is all about."
Finally, on his relationship with Roberto Mancini and Italian football: "It's really important to have the coach's confidence but I don't feel I have to prove myself to Serie A. I'm here to do my bit."
