MILAN – It was a case of first match, first goal for Stevan Jovetic this evening as he bagged a late winner to secure all three points for the Nerazzurri in their first match of the 2015/16 Serie A season against Atalanta.
At the end of the match, Jovetic shared his thoughts on the win: "I’m delighted, it was a tough match against an Atalanta side that defended well. We pushed right until the end, and winning at the death like that was fantastic. I’m not at 100% yet but it’s important for strikers to score so I hope to keep it up. The main thing is that the team has won – the three points are a confidence boost.
"I hope Mauro’s OK and can play against Carpi, because we need all our players. Our goal is to qualify for the Champions League so it was important to start well tonight. We still need to get to know each other better, but there’s a tough away match ahead before the international break," continued Jovetic.
There was a final word on whether the team could fight for the title this year: "It’s too early to talk about that. We have a good side and want to do as well as possible and finish in the top three."
