MILAN – It was a special day for Dodo and Jonathan Biabiany today as they took part in the last of three events organised by the Indonesia Pavilion at Expo 2015 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Indonesian Independence. There was dance, cooking demonstrations and a general festival atmosphere inside the pavilion to celebrate the historic day, which was coloured with Inter black and blue thanks to the presence of the two Nerazzurri stars.

Dodo and Biabiany were welcomed by dancers performing traditional Indonesia dance, had the chance to try local food and spices and were even able to use the Oculus Room installed in the pavilion to enjoy a three-dimensional taste of the Indonesian landscape.

After posing for countless photos and happily signing autographs for the massed fans, the Nerazzurri delegation moved to the Expo Auditorium where, in the presence of Indonesian ambassador to Italy Mr August Parengkuan, the players took to the stage to answer questions from supporters, a lucky few of which won Inter jerseys and match tickets to the derby on 12 September.

"It’s an honour to be here at Expo 2015 to discover the culture of president Erick Thohir’s splendid country. It’s lovely to get to know this fascinating culture, the president loves it and above all we love it. It’s great to see so many people interested in discovering the history and tradition of Indonesia," Brazilian full-back Dodo told the journalists present.

Dodo then spoke about the Nerazzurri’s preparations for the upcoming season: "The team is working hard to get to the start of the season in the best shape possible. The new players need a bit of time to gel but that’s what we’re training for. There’s no official word on Kovacic yet but it’s not down to us players to deal with these things.

"Personally I can’t wait to get back to playing, I’m working hard for it but it’ll take some more time. I’m doing well though and don’t have long to go in my recovery. In the meantime I’ll be cheering on my team-mates and I’m sure we can achieve big things. Is 4-3-3 ideal for me? Yes, but I’ve learnt to play in other positions over the last few years," declared Dodo.

Frenchman Biabiany then had his say: "I’m doing well. I’m at the end of the injury now and I want to return as soon as possible to give my contribution to the team. We have a great team and will do our best. It’s great to see so many fans here, take photos with them and give something back for all their passion. Moreover, it’s even better to be able to do so with fans that live far away but are here in Milan at the moment due to Expo.

"It’s lovely to know that we have lots of fans in Indonesia too and I’d love to visit the country. Today is an important day for them and it’s been an honour to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Indonesian independence alongside them. And we’re pleased they chose to celebrate it with us!" concluded Biabiany.
