The initial phase will involve 30 training centres, with the aim of reaching 100 football schools by the end of the year.

Vice president Zanetti declared: "It's very important for Inter as a club to be here and see all your enthusiasm and passion for the game, and our colours especially. Today is a highly significant day for all of us because it's the start of our Inter Academy project in Shanghai. I would like to say a special thank you to China because whenever we come here we're always made to feel at home."

Inter Academy technical director Marco Monti then took the floor. "It's a huge honour to be here to announce this five-year partnership with Yitao Shanghai Football Club. We can now launch our first Inter Academy in China, following on from our current projects in Japan, USA and Saudi Arabia.

"There will be 30 training centres here in the Shanghai area initially and the aim is to reach 100 football schools by the end of 2015, with the involvement of Nerazzurri coaches from the Inter youth academy.

"We want to help further the development of football in this country so eager to learn. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Ge," Monti concluded.
