GARY MEDEL WINS HISTORIC COPA AMERICA WITH CHILE

First ever victory for La Roja, who join the list of winners of the prestigious tournament after beating Argentina 4-1 on penalties

MILAN - Gary Medel helped Chile write their names in the history books this evening as they lifted the Copa America for the first time.

With the tournament hosts and Argentina still tied after extra time in Santiago, it all came down to a shootout. La Roja put away all four of their spot kicks with Alexis Sanchez cheekily dinking the winning penalty down the middle to send the packed-out Estadio Nacional into raptures.

Nerazzurri man Gary Medel put in another solid display for Chile, playing all 120 minutes. On behalf of everyone at Inter, well done Gary!
