Icardi gunning for glory
Mauro Icardi will try to snatch the title of top scorer in the 2014/15 Serie A season this evening as he looks to overhaul current leader Luca Toni. As things stand, the Nerazzurri striker is on 20 league goals, a tally that places him joint second with compatriot Carlos Tevez. Toni, however, is out in front with 21 goals. No Inter player has finished as top scorer since the 2008/09 season, when Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored 25 times.
Last man standing
Daniele Rugani is the only player in the league to have contested every single minute of the 2014/15 Serie A season. He’s been on the field for 3330 minutes and has made 37 league appearances, a tally matched by Karnezis, Callejon, Toni and Belotti.
Big 300 for Valdifiori
Mirko Valdifiori will make his 300th professional appearance if he lines up for Empoli against Inter at San Siro tonight. The Italian midfielder made his debut in Cesena’s 3-3 Serie B draw with Genoa on 14 May 2005 and has turned out for Cesena, Pavia, Legnano and Empoli over the course of his career. In total, Valdifiori has made 35 appearances in Serie A, 201 in Serie B, 41 in the Lega Pro, 14 in the Coppa Italia and eight in other competitions.
