AUSILIO: "DON’T WANT TO WATCH FROM THE SIDELINES"

The Nerazzurri sporting director spoke to the media shortly before kick-off between Genoa and Inter

GENOA – Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio spoke to the press before the Nerazzurri’s Week 37 match against Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. Ausilio started with a word on Icardi: "We’re working on it – this is the contract of an important player. We’ll take the time we need. What counts is that Inter want to keep Icardi and Icardi wants to stay at Inter."

Ausilio then spoke about Handanovic: "We have a great rapport with Samir and his agent. It’s true that we don’t have so much time, but ours is an ambitious project and Samir knows that. The Europa League doesn’t affect our spending power much. But we would like to be involved, for the history of our club. It’s something we want.

"Over the last few months this side has done very well. We’ve picked up points and done it playing well. I’m confident of the way we’re going. We’re preparing for next season in the best way possible and everyone is committed to that.

"Juventus are having a successful cycle, but we had one of our own not too long ago. We will try everything to be in a position to challenge for the title. We’re very keen to do that. Inter don’t want to be watching on from the sidelines any more. Yaya Toure? The transfer window opens in July. He’s a target – there’s no point hiding that. We want to try and sign him, but it won’t be easy," declared Ausilio.
