MANCINI: "ONE GOOD HALF IS NOT ENOUGH"

The boss gives his post-match verdict: "We created lots of chances in the first half and deserved to extend our lead but instead we found ourselves level at the break"

MILAN - Roberto Mancini spoke to the media after seeing Juventus take advantage of two Inter mistakes to overturn the result and leave San Siro with the points.

"Sadly mistakes happen in football. Sometimes you lose because of them and sometimes you win thanks to them. You have to accept that," the coach began.

"We created lots of chances in the first half and deserved to extend our lead but instead we found ourselves level at the break. Obviously when you play games at this level, one good half is not enough."

Today's defeat drastically reduces Inter's chances of qualifying for Europe. "Yes, the Europa League is clearly much further away from us after this game. We have lots of work to do to build a team with experienced, quality players who can lift the side in matches like this simply because they're used to playing in them."

As it turned out, a game that might have been won was lost because of errors. "As I said, mistakes happen. We could have been more careful with our possession on the first goal."

Mancini changed the shape of the team in the second half: "I switched to a three-man defence because we were finding it hard to press our opponents high up the pitch and we needed our widemen further forward. We managed to do that with Nagatomo on a couple of occasions. But if create chances we then have to take them."

On the Inter of the future: "When you have top-quality players they help raise the others' awareness. When a youngster plays alongside a world-class player he has to push himself harder and he slowly improves, along with everyone around him. Everything improves."

Is there a San Siro problem? "It does weigh on you. We should win all the time here but instead we struggle. The stadium should be our fortress but we're not incisive enough. We should be winning nearly all our games here.”

There's a big gap between Inter and Juventus in the league table: "The real difference isn't that great, as you could see in the two matches we played. They're the best team at the moment but if we do a good job in the transfer market we'll keep growing."
