UDINE – There was a second successive win for Inter tonight as they beat Udinese 1-2 at the Stadio Friuli. It’s a vital three points for the Nerazzurri, whose European hopes will be buoyed by the result, but coach Roberto Mancini was not entirely convinced by the display.
Indeed, Mancini used his post-match interview to criticise his side’s attitude in the second half: "I don’t understand why some of our players started to play around after Udinese went down to nine men.
"We’ll need to speak about that, because at times we don’t think. I have good players but we need to stay concentrated at all times. Using your brain is fundamental. We can’t not kill a game like that off, because it only takes a moment to risk losing points. We did better when both teams had 11 players. Udinese are a good side, but I didn’t like the attitude of some players in the second half," declared Mancini.
Mancini then spoke about Lukas Podolski, whose stunning goal was his first for the club: "I’m pleased that Podolski broke his duck, he’s scored a very important goal. He’ll go back to London at the end of his loan deal, but he’s a true professional."
There was also a word on Hernanes: "I really liked his performance up until the 65th minute, but not his last 25 minutes. Him and the others. Having said that, he deserves to be playing right now."
