MILAN - "The fans are the most important thing. That's why I think #milionidinomi is a great initiative. It's always completely different when you play in front of a packed house." Here's how Roberto Mancini began his press conference on the eve of Inter v Parma.
After signing up to the club's future, the Nerazzurri manager focused on tomorrow's match against the side from Emilia: "It will be a tough game because they have nothing to lose and are playing at 100% despite the club's issues. Just like against Cesena, we're the ones who have everything to lose in matches like these so we have to prepare as best we can. We hope to get a big win to make the fans happy. It's up to us to perform well and convince them to come back to the stadium.
"We have to do our best over our last 10 matches. It's not easy to take over mid-season but you can only get results with time and through hard work. We have to be patient but I really believe we'll take Inter back to the top. Obviously we still have to improve but we've become a team and we take the game to our opponents. We've all got something to prove between now and the end of the season and it's important to get results in the last stage of the campaign. If we play like we did at Sampdoria, we'll definitely win a lot of matches. Our aim is to qualify for Europe and we still have a chance of doing so.
"Kovacic just needs to keep progressing and be happy. He plays for Inter and everyone here loves him. He needs to relax, he's got ability and he'll gradually show that. We'll make a decision on it tomorrow but Juan Jesus played very well at full-back in Genoa. He might have the odd bad game but he's a good, young player with huge room for improvement. What matters is playing with grit and determination and being aware of what you're capable of. I hope whoever plays instead of Icardi can score. We've got some good youngsters with us, some of whom have played, whilst others haven't. Everyone will get their chance over the coming games.
"Dybala is a quality player, he's young and I think he'll become a top class forward. Inter are a big club and naturally we're looking for quality players so we can start winning again. There are no talks about Toure, I've always said he's a Manchester City player but we'd be delighted if we could sign him for Inter. We have to respect the regulations but I strongly believe Inter will be very competitive next season. We'll only sacrifice players if the team can emerge stronger for it."
