BENOIT CAUET’S INTER REACH FINAL EIGHT STAGE

"Proud of how much the lads have grown," declared the Allievi Nazionali coach after his side reached the Final Eight stage with four matches to spare

MILAN – It’s been an extraordinary season for Benoit Cauet’s Allievi Nazionali Serie A and B side so far, with 56 points collected from 22 matches and 12 wins from as many games on home soil. Indeed, yesterday’s victory over Atalanta ensured the young Nerazzurri’s passage to the Final Eight stage with four games to spare.

"We’re very pleased with how far we’ve come. I’m proud of the job the players have done; they’re growing with every passing day. We’ve done even better than last year, despite the fact that the quality of the league has gone up. We’re now assured of our place in the Final Eight, which is a big objective for a club like Inter, which gets there every year," explained the Nerazzurri boss.

"We were determined to mathematically assure ourselves of qualification. We put in a great performance against Atalanta – we were organised, we dictated the play and gave very little away to our opponents. It was a good match.

"We have a quality group here made up of 24 lads who are all up to the standard. It’s my job to make the decisions, however, and it’s inevitable that somebody gets left out. We’ve got four matches left now and I’ll be able to give some time to those that have played less. It will be important to have the whole squad in good shape for the Final Eight so we can try to achieve a big result," concluded Cauet.
