CITTADELLA - Stefano Vecchi's Primavera boys resumed their championship duties with a bounce in their step today after lifting the Viareggio Cup ten days ago. Cittadella were on the receiving end of a 4-0 drubbing as the Nerazzurri Under-19s made it eight wins on the spin.
It was downhill almost from the start as Viareggio Golden Boy and top goalscorer Federico Bonazzoli continued his hot streak with a near-post finish from a corner in the 9th minute, his sixth in five games.
It became 2-0 with ten minutes of the opening half remaining when Bonazzoli turned provider to play in Michele Rocca with an exquisite ball and the midfielder finished clinically.
The hosts tried to find a way back into the game and were unlucky to hit the bar on 43 minutes but after Gaston Camara made it three on the stroke of half time the second period was destined to be mostly academic.
Indeed it was very much a low-key affair after the restart, although Michael Ventre still managed to add a fourth shortly after replacing Demetrio Steffè.
There's a big one on the agenda next Sunday: the Nerazzurri welcome Cristian Brocchi's AC Milan to the Stadio Breda for a top-of-the-table showdown. Kick-off is at 11:00 CET.
