VECCHI ANALYSES PRIMAVERA'S LAST-16 SUCCESS

Under-19s' boss talks us through his side's latest Carnival Cup victory against Serie D Select XI

VIAREGGIO – The Nerazzurri Primavera marched on in the Viareggio Cup by overcoming a Serie D Select XI to record a fourth straight win and qualify for a quarter-final clash with Pescara.

Inter struggled to make the breakthrough in the opening period before 17-year-old Federico Bonazzoli, making his first appearance at this year's tournament, struck the winner on 68 minutes.

Speaking after his team's round-of-16 win, Stefano Vecchi said: "We did find it hard, partly because of the state of the pitch and partly because we were up against a very strong side. It was one-way traffic in the first half though. We managed the game well and seized the right moment to take the lead in the second half. We had several other chances to make it 2-0 before they came out and threw the kitcken sink at us in the dying minutes."

The Under-19s will be back in action in just two days' time when they take on Massimiliano Oddo's Pescara and Vecchi confirmed that they may be without today's matchwinner.

He explained: "I'll speak to Mancini and Ausilio to find out whether we'll be able to play Bonazzoli again. He's a big player for us but the first team is obviously our main priority."
