SAMADEN ISSUES PRAISE FOR VECCHI'S BOYS

Academy director after watching Inter's last-16 win at Viareggio: "We played like a real team. Credit to Vecchi and his staff for helping the lads improve"

VIAREGGIO – Among the spectators at the Stadio Torquato Bresciani to see Inter's Viareggio Cup round-of-16 victory over Rappresentativa Serie D was Roberto Samaden. The Nerazzurri youth academy director was happy with the performance produced by Stefano Vecchi's boys on the day.

Speaking to Inter Channel, he explained: "It was a tough match also because of the pitch – it was almost unplayable. We managed to play very well despite that and the scoreline could have been much bigger.

"I'm pleased because we won by playing good football and looked solid at the same time. Credit goes to Stefano Vecchi and his coaching staff because the teams has grown in every sense since the start of the season.

"Bonazzoli? I've known Federico since he was seven and his attitude is always spot on when he crosses the white line. He played really well today, besides scoring the winner. But it's not right to single out players because we achieved a great result today by playing as a real team. That's important for the whole squad."

Samaden then looked ahead to Thursday's meeting with Pescara. "Oddo has an excellent team and they've been getting good results in the league. They beat Roma in their group last week and almost knocked them out of the tournament. They are very compact and have some quality individuals. We know how good they are and facing them in a knockout tie at Viareggio is not going to be easy."
