MILAN - Marco Fassone discussed Inter's current form as he spoke to Radio Rai's 'Radio Anch'io Sport': "We've already begun a mini cycle under Roberto Mancini in terms of what we've seen in our play over the last four matches. We've picked up eight points from our last four games and the feel good factor is back around the San Siro. Long may this continue."
The Nerazzurri managing director then spoke about the transfer window: "Right from when we first approached him, Mancini has shown he's very aware of the club's financial position. We want to buy into his ideas, whilst staying in line with the restrictions that have been brought in over the last few years. We're trying to build something big, following the coach's instructions, and he has stressed the need for cover in certain areas of the pitch. We wanted to satisfy his requests, now we have three weeks to redress the balance, trimming the squad and the wage bill. Either way, there's a limited impact on the balance sheet. I have to thank Arsenal and Bayern Munich for understanding the position we're in and agreeing to conclude deals. UEFA are keeping a very close eye on us and we want to send out a message that we're playing by the rules."
Fassone then spoke about those who might be leaving the club: "We're not planning on sacrificing anyone in the January transfer window, but a lot could happen in June. We already have fees to pay in the summer and so we need to be smart in raising the club's revenue and try to qualify for the Champions League. Otherwise we'll have to take a different approach. We're six points off third place and there are 20 matches to play. Our aim is to qualify for the Champions League, but we're trying to increase turnover regardless of where we finish."
Finally, a word on Moratti: "He stands for a lot at Inter, his role isn't only that of minority shareholder. He speaks to Thohir on a regular basis and is an important figure for our president."
