APPIANO GENTILE – After making his debut in the black and blue of Inter in Tuesday’s Derby d’Italia against Juventus, Lukas Podolski was today officially unveiled as a Nerazzurri player. Speaking at the subsequent press conference, the German forward looked back on his whirlwind start to life in Italy:
"The welcome I received was something I’ve never seen anywhere else in the world, it was unique. I wasn’t expecting so many fans to be at the airport. I’m very proud of that. When I saw the number 11 shirt with the legendary Inter badge and my name on the back, it was an amazing feeling. It was also great to make my debut against Juventus. I can’t wait to see what the future holds," said Podolski.
Asked of the differences between Serie A, the Premier League and the Bundesliga, the German World Cup winner replied: "Serie A is one of the top leagues around and there’s no doubt that Inter is still seen as one of the ten biggest clubs in the world. The club has an incredible record and it was only a few years ago that they won the triple.
"Inter is a top club and I want to help the team to get back into the Champions League. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be focusing solely on football. Obviously, our aim is to get third place – that’s what the boss wants and that’s what we all want too. We need to recover some points and win our upcoming matches," concluded Podolski.
