MAXWELL: "IT’LL BE SPECIAL TO FACE INTER"

The former Nerazzurri fullback, who currently plays in France with PSG, gave his take on a clash that sees his past and present clubs face off in Morocco

MARRAKECH Inter v Paris Saint-Germain is undoubtedly somewhat of a prestige friendly, one that promises to pose a stern test for Mancini’s men. Set to take place on 30 December at Marrakech’s Grande Stade, the match will provide the perfect opportunity to round off 2014 in style and look forward to a promising 2015.

"We’re all very pleased. PSG playing in Marrakech is a great opportunity for everyone. There’s a buzz of enthusiasm around and the stadiums in Morocco are really modern," explained Maxwell, current PSG fullback and former Inter man.

"Our club has grown quickly and we need to engage with new fans the world over. We want to put on a good show and use the match to prepare well for our upcoming challenges," continued the Brazilian.

The 33-year-old defender amassed 105 appearances during his time at Inter, plundering no less than five trophies in the process (three Scudetti and two Italian Super Cups). Tomorrow’s match will be the second time that Maxwell will have come up against his former club: "I’m delighted to be able to play against my old club, as I already did with Barcelona and Ajax.

"It’ll be really special against Inter because I’ll be able to see lots of old friends who work for the club and who helped me a great deal when I arrived in Milan. Of course, I’m aware that lots of the players have changed, but within the club there are still a lot of people I know well. I look forward to seeing them all!" concluded Maxwell.
