MILAN - The late game in Serie A Week 16 ended in a draw between Inter and Lazio. Both sides had the better of one half each, with the Nerazzurri coming back with two second half goals: "I coach the team on a daily basis and I think the way we set up in the first half is a system that can work," explained Roberto Mancini post-match. "Conceding a goal after two minutes changes your plans because Lazio are a very good side on the break. The formation doesn't come into it because the first period changed after we conceded. It gave us a lot of problems. We reacted in the second half but it's not to do with the system we played.
"We made mistakes, we take two steps forward and one back but I didn't think I could change things in the space of a month. It takes time and we have to improve in a number of areas. The players do suffer from a touch of fear at the San Siro especially when games take a turn for the worse. We need to overcome that and we will do. We'll keep making mistakes but we hope to make fewer of them."
He also addressed transfer rumours: "We've never spoken about Lennon. He's not in our transfers plans, but there will most likely be other players if we can land them. The team needs to keep working regardless of any potential new signings. We have to find the right consistency throughout matches. The only way to do so is through hard work. If we can bring people in, so much the better, but we need to think about improving."
Finally, a word on Kovacic, the scorer of a wonder goal which woke the Nerazzurri up: "Mateo is improving because he's a young man with a lot of quality. He comes on every day. I don't think I deserve credit for that but it's simply a process a player like him needs to go through."
