ROME - Roberto Mancini spoke to Sky Sport Italia after a press conference in which he was named as a UNICEF ambassador. He began by discussing his prestigious new role: "I'm very proud to become a UNICEF ambassador," said the Nerazzurri coach. "I hope to play my part like the other ambassadors around the world."
He then spoke about last night's game: "No, I'm not happy. You never are when you lose. There were some positives but you can't be happy when you lose having equalised twice. There are some positives to come out of the defeat: the team's character and their desire to change things, for example."
Mancini was asked to assess his first two weeks in charge: "I'm starting to know my players better after two weeks in the job. I've got a clear idea in my mind now and I think I'll speak to the club in a week or so. They're waiting to hear what I think. We need to look back at the mistakes we've made but it's better to do so after a win. The club is ready for anything. In January it's not easy to find players who can help you out, not only in the short term but throughout the year."
On the back four: "It'll take a bit of time. It's quite tricky to move from a three-man defence to a back four. But I think we have internationals who are used to operating in a back four. Ultimately formations don't win you games."
A final word on president Thohir: "He sent me a message last night and we'll talk today," concluded Mancini.
