MILAN – The clash between Inter and Saint-Étienne ended as a goalless draw that, when looking at the table, can be viewed positively. Nerazzurri coach Walter Mazzarri reflected on this point after the match:
"I’m satisfied with the point that leaves us at the top of the group with three points over the side in second. The standings are looking good for us in this competition. It wasn’t an attractive Inter side on display? Let’s not forget we’re going through an emergency. I think it was a good game considering the condition we showed up to this match in. Obviously I think it would be great if we could always put on a sparkling performance, but nowadays it’s increasingly difficult to find a side that consistently does that in Europe."
Mazzarri was asked if he had any comments on Massimo Moratti’s decision to step down as Inter’s honorary president: "It’s something Thohir addressed, and I don’t discuss these kinds of management issues. At the press conference yesterday I only wanted to say both the team and myself have to concentrate solely on our work, and that the players have to stay focused on Saint-Étienne. Right now, more than ever, the results are what count."
