APPIANO GENTILE - Between today’s two training sessions, Brazilian full-back Dodo gave an exclusive interview to Silvia Vallini of Sky Sport Italia. He first spoke of the upcoming Europa League play-off challenge against Stjarnan: "We don’t know these opponents very well, which is something that should make us even more careful. It will be important to quickly figure out their movement on the pitch."
The Nerazzurri player, one of the new signings for 2014/15, never shies away from responsibility: "We need to make our own history. Some great players played here who were loved by everyone, but now we’re here. We want to win over the fans ourselves. Wearing Milito’s number 22? He’s an important name. But the name on the back isn’t what matters – it’s the name that’s on the front. Players can come and go, but Inter will always be here."
Regarding statements that Inter are struggling to score in pre-season: "Since pre-season began we still haven’t managed to work with all the forwards available. In fact, we’ve worked a lot on other situations and learned the concepts the coach wants.
"What has Walter Mazzarri taught me? He’s given me a lot of confidence with the strong character he has. He has the right mentality. He wants to make us understand we have to give our all, in both training and in competitive games.
"Our objectives? We want to challenge for the top spots. We want to finish as high as we can."
On club president Erick Thohir: "We saw each other in America and spent some time together. He also gave us a lot of confidence. He believes in this project and the team, and that makes us glad."
