MEZZANO – This afternoon Inter’s Primavera team claimed the trophy in the 2014 Trentino Cup, a three-team tournament held in Mezzano (in the province of Trento). Napoli and Verona were the other two sides competing in the competition, which consisted of three 45-minute matches. Penalties were used to decide the winner in matches ending in a draw.

Inter began against Verona and came out on top 2-0 thanks to goals from Steffè and Delgado.

In the second game the Gialloblù received yet another 2-0 loss, this times at the hands of Napoli, with Bifulco and Liivak finding the net.

In the third and final match the Nerazzurri and Napoli began in what was a situation of complete parity. Vecchi’s team took the lead through Yao, but De Iorio responded to draw his side level. The result had not changed by the full 90 minutes, which meant a penalty shootout.

Gaetano, De Iorio, Lombardi and Mangiapia all failed to convert from the spot for the Neapolitans, leaving Prezioso as the only successful taker. Inter players Camara and Gnoukori both hit the back of the net, with Gaiola, Palazzi and Pinton missing. 2-1 was therefore enough for the Nerazzurri to claim the trophy in its third edition, after Bayern Munich’s two previous victories.
