MILAN – Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio took some time to respond to questions from journalists as he attended this evening's relaunch of TV network Sportitalia.
Can we say that Tom Ince's move to Inter is all wrapped up now?
"It's still early. The lad came to Milan because he wanted to have a look at everything for himself. We made the most of the weekend that he decided to spend in Milan with his family. We've laid some foundations, now we'll see if we're able to close the deal over the coming days."
Is Inter's main summer transfer target still a holding midfielder?
"We've never tried to hide that. It's even more the case now that we won't have Esteban Cambiasso anymore. We're certainly on the hunt for a very good player who's worthy of playing for Inter, someone who can replace Cuchu."
Could that someone be Mario Suarez?
"It's never easy to talk about names. We have our ideas and we're trying to work on them."
Are Inter looking for a strong, physical frontman to play alongside Rodrigo Palacio?
"We already have Mauro Icardi who possesses those qualities. We'll need a striker who can weigh in with goals, regardless of his physical characteristics."
What sort of mood is Walter Mazzarri in?
"He's in an excellent mood. He's on holiday now so he's surely in a better mood than me! We said all along that this was a very particular season, so you can't really judge his work. We can say that he's built some solid foundations: youngsters like Icardi and Kovacic began playing consistently, we had players who underwent a renaissance like Jonathan and Alvarez, and others who maintained themselves at a high level. We'll bring some new faces in this summer and I'm sure we'll do better."
Is Tottenham's Lamela a possible target?
"I don't usually name names, we have a lot to do."
