MILAN - The Rossoneri take the second derby of the season. De Jong punished the Nerazzurri in the second half, heading the winner from a Balotelli free-kick. It ended AC Milan 1-0 Inter.
Mazzarri picked a back three of Ranocchia, Samuel and Rolando in front of Handanovic. Jonathan, Hernanes, Cambiasso, Kovacic and Nagatomo formed the middle five, with Palacio partnering Icardi in attack. The sides went into the break at 0-0, despite a first half with chances at both ends. Handanovic made some important saves, Kakà was denied by the crossbar, while Abbiati pounced to prevent Nagatomo's cross from reaching Palacio.
Mexes nearly gave the home side the lead on the hour mark but just missed the target. The match's tempo was slow with neither team creating too much. Five minutes later though AC Milan were in front: Balotelli curled in a free-kick and De Jong climbed highest to head home. Palacio might have levelled a couple of minutes later but once again it was De Jong who came to the fore. The Dutchman slid in to deny the Argentine. Pazzini thought he had doubled the hosts' lead 13 minutes from time as he poked in Balotelli's shot but the goal was ruled out for offside.
