MILAN – This Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, 4 - 6 May, for the Serie A Week 36 matches, the Oxfam fundraising campaign will debut: "Together with women to defeat hunger". Also collaborating will be the Lega Serie A and TIM, with support from the Italian Referees Association.
Supporting women means to strengthen their autonomy, power and responsibilities. It means helping them and their families out of poverty and hunger.
Oxfam Italy are active in over 90 countries around the world, working with women in their fight against the injustice of poverty, and it is with this message that they launch their campaign.
Serie A sponsor TIM is joining forces with Oxfam and asking fans to donate by sending an SMS to 45501 in order to support 50,000 women through cooperation projects aimed at improving food production, access to resources and credit, to strengthen their ability to create and market agricultural and hand-crafted products in their countries (Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Cambodia, Ecuador, Morocco and Palestine).
Andrea Barzagli, Mehdi Benatia, Lorik Cana and Alessandro Matri will be appearing in video and radio advertisements over the next few days. They are participants in one of the world’s most popular sports but also represent the different cultures and backgrounds involved in the project.
