MILAN – Gennaro Acampora scored from the spot deep into second-half stoppage time to earn the Primavera team a point against Ternana and ensure their place in the playoffs for the Final Eight.
Until the 95th minute it had looked like being a frustrating afternoon for Salvatore Cerrone's side. Having failed to take their chances, they fell behind in the 65th minute when Palumbo capitalised on the hosts' first real opening of the encounter. Tassi then missed a penalty as the Nerazzurri continued to find their route to goal blocked. Then, when all seemed lost, the referee awarded Inter another spot kick, which Acampora duly smashed it into the back of the net to clinch a late, late equaliser.
With one game left to play, the Under-19s are now mathematically certain of finishing at least fourth, which means they can enter the playoffs and try to claim one of the two remaining spots in the Final Eight.
