MAZZARRI: "PRESIDENT THOHIR AND I ARE ON THE SAME PAGE"

"Now we're thinking about our upcoming game, every match is tricky and Livorno have strong support. We need to make a good start"

APPIANO GENTILE - "Every game in Serie A is tough, they're all tricky, plus Livorno have strong support. They need points. You need to approach every opponent in the best way possible right from the outset, then when we have the ball we have to try and finish as soon as possible. We'll do everything we can to put in a good performance at Livorno." This is how Walter Mazzarri began his media conference on the eve of Livorno v Inter.

The coach was then asked whether - given his side's struggles at home - it's an advantage to play away: "I'd love to always play at home, the crowd help us. At times the occasion might get to the lads at the San Siro, but I believe we can do well there."

At Livorno, Inter will come up against some promising Nerazzurri youngsters out on loan, with Mazzarri explaining that "we keep tabs on them, as we do with all the lads that are out on loan, as well as those at La Pinetina. If they do well elsewhere they can come back and perform for us. We'll assess them all come the end of the season."

What was discussed during his meeting on Friday with president Thohir, Marco Fassone and Piero Ausilio? This is something else Mazzarri was quizzed about: "All I'll say is that it confirmed we're on the same page. As a coach, when I take on a job, it's as if the club were mine, so I don't need added motivation, though the president helps to motivate us all in any case."

Walter was then asked for his views on the refereeing situation: "It's all been said already, I don't know if there's any point in continuing to talk about it, people see what's going on. Thohir said 'I don't know whether to laugh or cry'? I don't need to comment on what the president or honorary president say, they know what they're talking about."

Finally, some questions on individual players: "Guarin? He's got a lot of qualities, he still needs to work on certain things but he's got great talent. Now I need to consider that we've got Bologna straight after so I will perhaps make a few changes. Milito? On Sunday I brought him on, I'll pick him when I think it's right for the team. Hernanes? He's had a problem with his right foot of late, his calf was a bit tight at Verona for instance, so that affected his mobility. Now I think he's rid of that problem. I need to be sure of his fitness and decide whether to start him or put him on the bench."
