MILAN - "We're building a team for the next few years. With Hernanes I think we have leadership in the middle. With Vidic we have a leader in the defence." This is what FC Internazionale president Erick Thohir had to say as he arrived at Milan Malpensa airport earlier this morning.
"We might add a few players for next season. I think we need to create stability in the team but I think by next season the average age of the team will be 26.5 years old," he continued.
The president was then asked about the three-match ban for Juan Jesus: "It's a decision by the league, I think, at the end, like I keep saying, it's very important to build a strong Serie A, through the team, through the referee. I think now everybody has looked at the situations, not only Juan Jesus, but also the referee. People start talking about the technology to be implemented at the games, I think it will be good in the future but again I think Serie A needs to be prepared for these changes because they're competing with other leagues in the world."
The Nerazzurri chief was then asked which area of the pitch was going to be most heavily strengthened: "For next season we're going to add more players but, at the same time, we want to keep some of the players that we have right now. The most important thing, as I keep saying, is to balance the ages and also balance the positions."
And on the contract situations surrounding Guarin and Palacio: "I have to discuss this with Piero [Ausilio], I think Piero can answer that question."
Finally, Frank De Boer's manager has claimed his client is waiting for a big club to come calling, could it be Inter?
"He's a good coach but at the moment we don't have any discussions with Frank de Boer, I don't know him, and I've never met him."
