MARCO FASSONE: "EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH THE COURT'S DECISION"

The managing director: "Positive news for our fans who would have been unfairly punished for two incidents that happened away from home"

MILAN – Speaking with Inter Channel by telephone, Inter’s managing director Marco Fassone commented on the Federal Court of Justice’s decision to accept the Nerazzurri’s appeal against the closure of the San Siro’s Second tier green section for the behaviour of fans during Torino v Inter and Napoli v Inter:

"Obviously we’re extremely pleased with the Federal Court of Justice’s decision. Now we hope that other clubs in our same situation can benefit from this ruling. Often the chants away from home come from a few people and then end up affecting an entire section of the stadium for a home match. This, along with the problems of associating all away fans with a single section, the perceptibility of the chant itself and the fairness of the punishment are what our appeal was based on. Now we can play in front of our supporters. This decision from the FIGC is a good sign."

The managing director then stated to Sky Sport Italia: "It’s positive news for the fans who would have been unfairly punished for two incidents that happened away from home. The key points of our defence were accepted, and I hope that this decision is taken as the standard for the future. We’ve always spoken of the confusion we’ve felt over what constitutes territorial discrimination, particularly for the away matches. The differences between racial and territorial discrimination are clear, and adequate decisions are needed."
